About Snake
Snake hasn't changed much since it turned up on old Nokia phones, and it doesn't need to. You steer one glowing line around a closed arena, eat cells to get longer, and try not to run into yourself. Easy enough at the start. Twenty cells in, that wide open board has turned into a maze you built by accident.
Most people play this as a reflex game and cap out around ten points. It isn't one. The players who reach 300 stop chasing the pellet and start thinking about where they need to be two seconds from now. Sweep the board in long straight lanes so your body lies flat against a wall, and keep the middle clear. Once that clicks, the hard part stops being your reactions and starts being your patience.
Every fifth pellet bumps the speed up a notch, so the board gets faster right as it gets more crowded. There's a cap, so it never becomes unplayable, but the last few levels do assume you already know where you're going. Your best score saves to your browser, which means there's always a number sitting there to beat.
Getting better at Snake
- Hug the outside edge and spiral inwards. It keeps your tail somewhere predictable.
- Don't go into a gap unless you can already see the way out.
- When the speed jumps, take one safe lap before you try anything clever.
