Brick Breaker

Drag or use the arrows to move the paddle. Space launches the ball.

About Brick Breaker

The ball doesn't just bounce off your paddle at a mirrored angle. Where it lands matters, and so does whether you were moving when it hit. Catch it near the edge while sliding outwards and you can send it into a corner you had no business reaching. That one detail turns this from a reflex game into an aiming game.

The boards are laid out to teach you that. Early rows are thin and even so you can get a feel for the paddle. Later ones put armoured bricks in the corners, which forces you to actually aim instead of tapping the ball up the middle. Clear a board and the next one loads straight away, a little quicker than the last.

You get three lives. Ball speed carries over between boards and never resets, so a last-brick rally at full speed is exactly as tense as it sounds. That rally is why people have kept playing this for forty years, and nothing here does the work for you.

Getting better at Brick Breaker

  • Move into the ball as it lands to add spin and steepen the angle.
  • Punch a tunnel up one side and let the ball loose in the roof.
  • Down to the last few bricks, try to trap the ball above them.
